Kenneth Adam McGraw, 38, of McGraws, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in a Beckley hospital.
Born March 18, 1984 at Beckley, he was the beloved son of Kenneth J. and Yvonne S. (Hoosier) McGraw.
At a very young age, Adam developed a love for words and books. He maintained this passion for literature throughout his life.
Adam graduated from Wyoming East High School then attended West Virginia University and received his B.A. in English (Magna Cum Laude) in 2006. He continued his education at Georgia State College and received his M.F.A in creative writing, poetry concentration in 2009. Adam was an accomplished poet and had several poems published in various journals. He was very proud of his book, titled: Hollow Rats, that he was working on for publication.
Adam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Susie McGraw and his maternal grandfather, Thomas Hoosier.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Kenneth and Yvonne McGraw of McGraws; two brothers, Matthew “Kyle” and Nathan “Chad” McGraw of McGraws; maternal grandmother, Phyllis I. Hoosier of Glen Fork; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We can’t forget our family dog, Mattock, whom Adam thought was so special.
Adam will be desperately missed by all those he left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. He was one of a kind with a devoted heart and to be loved by him was to be truly blessed.
A celebration of his life will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at his parent’s home, 1021 McGraws Hollow Road, McGraws, WV 25875.
Cremains will be interred at the family cemetery at a later date.
