BELINDA CAROL COLBIRD

Belinda Carol Colbird, 71, of Bud Mountain, WV, left her earthly home to wait on Jesus’ return on February 8, 2023 following a battle of Ovarian Cancer in which she fought long and hard.

She was born on August 10, 1951, a daughter of the late Avery Hamby and Ruth Hayworth.

Belinda devoted her life to the Lord and to her family. She was an incredible, nurturing mother and a caretaker by nature. Being the eldest out of ten siblings, she helped to care for them. She went on to have five children of her own, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren whom she’d care for and loved dearly.

Before retirement, she worked with Council on Aging. She started out caring for those who needed extra help in their homes and proceeded to work in the office planning activities and trips for the elderly that signed up.

Belinda was an avid shopper leaving no flea market, yard sale, or consignment store unscathed. She loved cornbread and buttermilk and sitting outside on her porch with an ice-cold cup of Diet Coke. She loved to cut-up, play pranks, and spoil her family. Her house was the place to go when you needed extra comfort, care, or needing some advice and she’d wait on you with open arms. She loved to talk, was always on the phone, and you did not leave her house or hang the phone up without saying, “See ya later” at least five times.

Belinda truly left a mark on this earth with lots of memories and love to be shared by her family for generations to come.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Roger Colbird of Bud Mountain, her children Randy (Linda) Colbird of Herndon Heights, David (Angela) Colbird of Herndon Heights, Donna (Roger) Day of Bud Mountain, Darold (Anna) Colbird of Alpoca, Kevin (Jessica) Colbird of McGraws, and a step daughter she loved as her own Lynoka Whalen of Virginia; her grandchildren Eric Colbird, Roger (Heather) Colbird, Davey (Jessica) Colbird, Katie (Amon) Shrewsbury, Shania (Donivan) Smith, Avery Colbird, D.J. Colbird, Elizabeth Colbird, Hannah Colbird, Kaylee Colbird, Emily Colbird, Hunter Colbird, and Levi Colbird; her great-grandchildren Hayden, Haylei, and Caleb Colbird; Brayden, Arabella, and Brooklyn Smith, Jesse Mullins, James and River Colbird, and Oakley Colbird; and a host of siblings and friends.

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Guyandotte Baptist Church, Herndon Heights with Elder Nathan Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Belle Colbird Cemetery, Bud Mountain.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
