ANDREW JACKSON (JUNIOR) O’NEAL, Jr.

Andrew Jackson (Junior) O’Neal, Jr. of Bud, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. 

Born June 12, 1929 at Bud, he was the son of the late Andrew and Laura (Mitchem) O’Neal. 

Andrew was a member of UMWA for over 70 years and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a beloved husband and loving father. Andrew was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church for over 40 years. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and served him faithfully to the end.  

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert Carl (Bob) O’Neal, Melvin O’Neal, and William (Doc) O’Neal; infant sister, Elizabeth O’Neal and Lessie O’Neal Lester. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Dominick O’Neal; his loving daughter, Betty (Janie) O’Neal and her husband, Steve; his two precious grandchildren, Anthony Andrew Mitchem of New York and Rebecca Ann Mitchem Ross and her husband, Jonathan of Mt. Kisco, NY; two sisters, Bonnie O’Neal Whitt and her husband, Fred and Betty O’Neal Tilley and her husband, Kermit; his sister-in-law, that was like a sister to him, Edith Dominick Williams and her husband, David; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews. 

Services will be 12 Noon, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. 

Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations of sympathy be made to your favorite church. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Raleigh General Hospital for the excellent care that was shown to their family.
