Y. Wayne Clay, 75, of Brier Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 30, 1947 in Lexington, KY a son of the late Warren and Glassola Higgin Clay. Wayne is a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran and attended the Clear Fork Independent Church of God. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years Sonna Katherine Toler Clay, a daughter Kimberly Ashby and husband Harry of Lexington, KY, a son Kevin Clay of Lexington, KY, a step son Lonnie Hudgins and wife Joyce of Baileysville, WV, a daughter-in-law Rhonda Hudgins of Matheny, a brother Phillip Clay and wife Tava of Lexington, KY, four grandchildren Ashley Barahona, Haley Hudgins, Brandon Hudgins and wife Samantha and Jeffrey Collins, three great grandchildren Trevor Hudgins, Maisley Lee and George Wayne Collins, and a host of other loving family and friends. 

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 22nd in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. The Wyoming County Honor Guard will conduct military rights.
