DOUGLAS MCARTHUR “MACK” PRICHARD

Douglas McArthur “Mack” Prichard, 79, of Oceana, WV passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 12, 2022 at his happy place, the family hunting cabin in Virginia. Born on November 28, 1942 in Kopperston, WV a son of late Boyd Prichard Sr. and Gracie James Prichard. Mack was a United States Air Force Veteran, Retired Coal Miner, and member of the UMWA. He was the owner of Prichard’s Fence Company for many years and an active member of the OHS Alumni Association. Mack was an avid outdoorsman, loved to coon and deer hunt. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Jo, a sister Mary Alice Prichard Pelphrey, a brother Boyd Prichard Jr., a grandson Matthew Brown, and a son- in-law Tony Toler. 

Survivors include a son Ernest (Bobbi Jo) Prichard of Eden, NC, four daughters Deandra (Dave) Ray of Beckley, Pamela Prichard of Oceana, Kim Toler of Oceana, and PJ (Jamie) Estep of Oceana, eleven grandchildren Seth (Ashley) Bennett, Jada Prichard, Cole Prichard, Tonjia Ray, Eric (Ginger) Ray, Garrett (Heather) Prichard, Kayla (Joshua) Webb, Amber Cline, Ali (Jay) Grimmett, Derrick Estep and Dalton Estep, seventeen great grandchildren Banks Bennett, Hutch Bennett, Haleigh Massey, Lindsey Ray, Andrew Hefner, Jackson Hefner, Koalton Ray, Ivy Ray, Konnor Ray, Chloe Prichard, Grayson Prichard, Hadley Prichard, Samuel Webb, Kanvas Webb, Damion Brown, Jayli Grimmett, and Jayce Grimmett, five sisters Ruth Lovins (and the late Willard) of Keyrock, Maggie Blankenship (and the late Connie) of Oceana, Delma Stacy (and the late Lonnie) of Oceana, Janet (Ricky) Hicks of Oceana, and Reva (Charles) Goodwin of Matheny, three brothers Earl Prichard (and the late Gloria) of Oceana, Ernest (Peggy) Prichard of McGraws, and Michael (Belinda) Prichard of Glen Fork, a sister-in-law Mary Prichard of Oceana, and a host of other loving family and friends. 

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, November 17th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with family from 11am until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
