Rufus Asbury, 58, of Ikes Fork, WV, made his final flight home to be with Jesus on March 30, 2022 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. Once he arrived home he was reunited with his precious Dad and Mom, the late Dewey and Gathie Matney Asbury. Rufus was born on August 16, 1963 in Welch, WV. He loved listening to music, going for long walks, and he loved going to cookouts. Rufus was just a laid back, quiet, but yet so funny at times type of guy. He was such a joy to be around. He was of the Christian Faith. In the past Rufus attended the Old Pathway Church at Johnny Cake, with James Cline the Pastor. He also enjoyed attending meetings at the Friendship Community Services held at the home of Sheena Hunt.
Those left to miss him and mourn losing him are his sisters, Debbie Cline, with whom he made his home, and Jennifer Asbury both of Ikes Fork, also Irma Sue Justice and husband Elmer of Bradshaw a nephew TJ Kennedy, whom he loved as his own son and his companion Misty Mullins his little dog, Buddy his special friend he called his “Partner in Crime”, Sheena Hunt his “Munster Yawn” and “Potato Salad Buddy” Jeretta Morgan special friends he loved like family Marty Lawrence, Penny Fortner, Angel Rowe and Keith Bishop and a host of other loving family and friends. He will always live on in their hearts and memories.
Funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, April 7th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. He will be laid to rest in the David Cline Cemetery, Ikes Fork, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1 pm until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearer’s that are honored to carry him to his final resting place will be Cecil Morgan, Fred Hunt, Marty Lawrence, Keith Bishop, Joe Fortner and TJ Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Horn, Bobby Roberts and Steve Alger.
