Denver Earl Goodman, 68, of Lillydale, WV, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 13, 1954 in Oceana, WV a son of the late Dan and Shelvie Harvey Goodman. Denver attended the Joseph Baptist Church and was a 1972 graduate of Oceana High School. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in Korea from 1972 to 1975. Denver worked for the Itmann Coal Mines and then was employed by the Wyoming County Board of Education where he was a member of the maintenance division until he retired. Denver was an outdoors man. He loved being in the mountains where he felt closest to God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren, riding 4 wheelers with his friend Bill, and taking trips to Tennessee with his wife, Dora. Denver loved to see other happy, especially his grandkids who affectionately called him “Poppy”. He loved their dog, Scooter and spoiled him with toys and treats every day. Denver loved Jeeps, peanut butter fudge, a good joke and his bible. He was a collector of everything…things and stuff… and it was all meticulously organized. He wore white T-Shirts and socks with holes in the heels and he wore his heart on his sleeve. If you knew Denver, you loved him and he loved you back even harder. He was a gentle soul who will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Elsie Fitch-Goodman and Frank and Lilly Harvey his father and mother-in-law Acie and Irene Cline and a nephew Thomas Daniel Goodman.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife Dora Jean Cline Goodman two sons Joseph Earl Goodman and his wife Mindy and Denver Dewey Goodman and his wife Stephanie grandchildren Hunter Goodman, Ethan Harris, Madison Goodman and Johanna Goodman three brothers Dan Dewey Goodman of Lynco and Thomas Goodman of Lynchburg, VA (Helen and Logan) and James Goodman of Tacoma, WA his dog Scooter and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, March 25th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor William Cook officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home.
