Helen Lee Elkins Brown, 85, of Oceana, WV, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday March 14, 2022 at her home following a short illness. She was born on September 17, 1936 in Pineville, WV a daughter of the late Walter and Ida Mae Miller Elkins. Helen was a dedicated member of Delilah United Methodist Church, Church Choir, Women’s Circle, and the Homemaker’s Club. She enjoyed planting flowers, a huge garden, sitting in her swing and watching the birds. She took special enjoyment in her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years Shelby Brown an infant grandson Anthony Walker a granddaughter Kristi Walker five brothers Herbert Elkins, Edward Elkins, Pete Elkins, Arlie Elkins and Calvin Elkins two sisters Ruth Brown and Gladys Elkins a son-in-law Ernest Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, and brother and sister-in-laws.
Survivors include two sons Steve (Linda) Brown of Oceana and Tony (Greta) Brown of Bolt two daughters Teresa Walker of Oceana and Susan (John) Craft of Crouches Farm her only living sister Rosie (Eddie) Phares of Circleville. She is a grandmother of six great grandmother of nine a great great grandmother of one her loving dog Raven and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, March 18th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Bro. Ricky Proffitt and Bro. Ronnie Acord officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia and her nurse Dena Spence.
