George Alfred Pennington, 82, of Glen Rogers, WV, went home to his eternal home in Heaven on Friday March 11, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born April 11, 1939 in Pineville, WV a son of the late William “Bill” and Lissie Brooks Pennington. He was a beloved husband, father and papaw. He was a man of God, and long time member of the Glen Rogers Community Church. George is a United States Marine Corps Veteran and a graduate of Glen Rogers High School. He loved his family and any time that they spent together. He enjoyed rocking on the porch talking with family, taking care of his garden, planting flowers, and most of all being a papaw. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Willie Pennington daughters Marty Blankenship and Juanita Tilley. He was ready to reunited with his kids. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Janice Marie Tyree Pennington son Michael Pennington eleven grandchildren Ashley, Michael, Scotty, Halley, Alley, Grayson, Tyler, Maddie, Austin, Evan and Andrew nine great grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Landon, Lian, Brynleigh, Kyler, Natalie, Jack and Bella sisters Eva Rose, Lois Miller and Roxanne Tilley brothers John Pennington, Harvey Pennington and Thomas Pennington and a host of other loving family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all his family, as we hold on to all the amazing memories of the best husband, dad and papaw. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Glen Rogers Community Church, Glen Rogers, WV with Pastor Kevin Francis officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 1 pm until time of service on Sunday at the church.
