Richard Bentley Asbury “Raz”, 66, of Isaban WV, was called home on January 9th, 2022 from his home. He was born February 6th, 1955 in Welch WV to the late Robert R. and Ruth Helmandollar Asbury. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patty Asbury Birchfield, a special niece Holly Justus, and great nephew, Tristan. A host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Raz was a simple man, very kind and generous, He was a true man of his word. Raz loved to cook but he loved to feed others more. His ability to be accepting of all was a character trait that drew him near to many. He loved the game of chess, but most of all loved the friendship of his opponents. He enjoyed learning and studying history. He loved sitting on the porch in the warm sun picking his guitar, with his loving dogs by his side. He was a very intellectual man full of knowledge and wisdom. He loved sharing through conversation and trivia games with friends. His home was an open door to anyone in need. He lived his life with the motto if its mine, it’s yours. He truly cherished all of his friendships from near and abroad. His warm personality was a quality that all that knew him will forever be missed. Those who are left to love and cherish his memory are: one daughter, Jamie (Adam) Daugherty of North spring WV, one son, Robert ”Rocky” (Sara) Asbury of Isaban, grandsons: Jacob Daugherty, Tristan Chaney, Trenton Asbury, and one granddaughter Maliyah. A beloved dog named Biggun. Raz had many special friends that he held dear to his heart. A host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 14th at the Isaban Church of God, Isaban, WV. He will be laid to rest in the Four Pole Cemetery, Isaban WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Friday at the church. Raz will be carried to his place of rest by pallbearers: Shawn Miller, Thomas Cline, Benji Rasnick, Maunel Stinson, Aaron Stinson, Mike Murphy, Adam Daugherty, and Jacob Daugherty. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
