WILLIAM O. “OAKEY” TOLLIVER

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, William O. “Oakey” Tolliver, 80, heard the call from Heavens portal and was ushered into Heaven on Thursday, September 2, 2021. 

Born March 11, 1941 in Pierpoint, WV to the late William and Emma (Cook) Tolliver. 

Oakey was licensed to preach April 12, 1970, Ordained September of 1971 and voted in as Pastor of Herndon Freewill Baptist Church in May 1972. Oakey served as the full time Pastor for 47 years until his retirement in May 2019 where he loved every member of the congregation. Oakey was a member of the Beckley Conference of Freewill Baptist churches where he served on various committees. Oakey drove bus 101 for many years for the Raleigh County BOE where he left an imprint on many of his bus kids lives. He loved to laugh, go visiting, bowling, playing cards, fish, and spend time with his family, but most importantly he loved to do what God called him to do, preach. 

Those waiting for him at the gate include his parents; great grandson, Ethan Lowe; and a host of family and friends. 

Those left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Ann Tolliver; four children, Buddy Tolliver and his wife, Debbie, Jeff Tolliver and his wife, Patty, Denise Milam and her husband, Robbie, and Stacy Tolliver; eight grandchildren, Josh (Laura) Lowe, Ben (Joni) Tolliver, Andrea (Gary) Keaton, Amber (Daniel) Pease, Megan (TJ) Bennett, Cody Lowe, and Josh and Laura Milam; thirteen great grandchildren that was the light of his life, William, Emma, Noelle, Caylee, Luke, Elijah, Kenzie, Isaiah, Isaac, Peyton, Mason, Michael, and Sara; three brothers, Roger (Sis) Tolliver, Teddy (Linda) Tolliver, and David (Pat) Tolliver; two sisters, Rosemary (Benny) Whittemore and Pat (David) Brooks; special nephew Toby and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 6, 2021 at the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church, Herndon with Bro. Richard Massie and Bro. Randy Lusk officiating. A private family only graveside rites will follow in the Tolliver Cemetery, Twin Falls State Park. 

Friends may call from 11 AM until time of service Monday at the church. 

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Toby Tolliver. 

The family would like to thank ARH ICU unit for all their love and support.
