TAZEWELL – The Tazewell Bulldogs fell victim to 18 unansweredfirst half points by Mount View Friday evening, but rebounded with 22 straight points of their own in the second half to take a 22-18 win over the Golden Knights.
Senior Justin Haggerty scored the first and third Mount View TDs, with a Tony Bailey, also a senior, score sandwiched between the two sixes for the Knights.
Haggerty returned a fumble recovery 39 yards for the opening touchdown of the contest.
Still in the inaugural chapter, junior QB Ryan Long threw an 18 yard scoring strike to Bailey for a 12-0 View advantage.
In the second, Long hooked up with Haggerty on a 7 yard TD aerial to complete the Mount View scoring.
The Bulldogs, now 1-2, were the recipients of a safety in the third before quarterback Carter Creasey threw the first of two scoring aerials, this one to Cassius Harris from 25 yards out.
Harris added a six yard run for six early in the fourth, followed by a Jared Mullins PAT kick to cut the Knight lead to 18-15. Creasey launched a 45 yard pass to Ethan Mills for the game winner, followed by Mullins’ conversion boot.
The Golden Knights fell to 1-1 with the loss and will entertain Summers County Friday, while Tazewell is slated to visit John Battle, also on Friday.
