
NEW RICHMOND – Mingo Central erased an early 6-0 deficit and went on to claim a 43-12 win Friday evening over host Wyoming East at the War Zone.
Junior Chandler Johnson scored a six-pointer on the ground for the Warriors, while senior Tucker Cook found the end zone through the air after hauling in a Jackson Danielson pass for East.
Johnson rushed 14 times for 75 yards, while Danielson, a sophomore, completed 9-of-17 aerials for 138 yards and that one TD.
Cook caught two of those tosses for 66 yards.
The Miners, celebrating their season opener, used a brusing ground attack that rolled up 406 yards and all seven scores to claim the win.
Senior Norman Kennedy had 5 touchdowns while running for 142 yards in 18 tries.
Sophomore QB Chris Ross added one score and topped all rushers with 160 yards on 10 totes.
Junior Kraedon Bolding netted 104 yards on only 7 carries and he also scored once.
Johnson also led the East defense with 16 total tackles and one tackle-for-loss, while senior Tristan Hall finished with 11 total tackles.
The Warriors, now 1-1, will visit Nicholas County Friday evening.
