NEW RICHMOND – The Wyoming East Warriors ran the football 33 times for 248 yards and four touchdowns Friday evening to claim a 28-6 victory over visiting Westside to take back the Golden Shovel the Renegades had captured last season.

The contest was the season opener for both teams.
Junior Chandler Johnson paced the East ground attack with 18 carries for 149 yards and two scores, while senior Tristan Hall added a pair of TDs while picking up 81 rushing yards on 11 totes.

Johnson scored both his six-pointers in the second quarter before the Renegades lit the scoreboard on a 23 yard scoring aerial from junior Jaxon Cogar to senior Andy Elkins.
Hall added a TD each in the third and fourth stanzas.
Senior Charlie Price added all four PAT kicks for the Warriors, who will entertain Mingo Central this Friday.
Westside will stay on the road Friday by visiting Oak Hill.
Defensively Wyoming East was led by senior Zach Cook, who had nine total stops, while Johnson recorded seven total tackles that included one sack.
Renegade senior Evan Colucci caught five passes for 70 yards.
Westside junior quarterback Cogar completed 10 of 32 passes for 146 yards. He also ran the pigskin 16 times for 64 yards.
Junior Blake Bledsoe led the defense with eight tackles and one pass theft he returned 25 yards.
