POSEY LAFAYETTE PETTRY

Posey Lafayette Pettry, 79, of Kopperston, WV, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021. He was born on January 24, 1942 in Naomi, WV, a son of the late James “Jim” and Pansy Crank Pettry. He attended Bible Baptist Church and Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for Aspen Tree Company, mowed yards for people and loved going to church. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years Jean McMillian Pettry, a brother Roger L. Pettry and his grandparents Lee and Pinky Pettry. 

Survivors include his niece with whom he lived Geraldine (companion Richard Hill) Pettry and her daughter Romona Pettry all of Ravencliff, a sister Opal (David) Brown of Jesse, two brothers Arthur Pettry of Sabine and James Pettry of Kopperston, a son Robert W. (Linda) McMillian of Kopperston, his step children, nieces and nephews, who was around, that he claimed as his own children, Cathy and Bernard Brooks, Thelma and Jackie Sizemore, Linda and Jimmy McMillion, Sheryl Wesley and Timmy Tilley, Pansy Pettry and Greg Fortner, Melissa and Chris Greer, Stephanie and Justin Ferguson, Joni and Justin Sizemore, and Rachel and James Stacy, Dallas (Megan) Stacy other nieces and nephews who loved him several kids he spoiled as his grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. 

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, August 9th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. Scottie Lusk, and Rev. Bernard Brooks officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. 

Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dallas Stacy, Adam Pettry, Justin Sizemore, Justin Ferguson, Robert W. McMillion, James Pettry and Chris Greer. When he needed nurses at home Kendra McMillion and Lesley Lafferty , was always there for their uncle. The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern WV, Beckley ARH ICU, Stat Ambulance, J. D. Shorter of Family Healthcare of Oceana, Oceana Pharmacy, American Medical and Goodson’s Supermarket of Oceana.
