Donna Rae Harold Lusk, 72, of Oceana, WV went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Donna was born on May 30, 1949, the daughter of Billie Joe and Lucille Harold. Donna was blessed to be raised in the community of Glen Fork, WV. She attended Glen Fork Grade School where she was a member of the band.
Donna was a 1967 graduate of Glen Rogers High School where she graduated as class Valedictorian. Donna received several accolades during her senior year at Glen Rogers High School which were: best personality, best smile, most courteous, friendliest and best all around. She worked on The Owl yearbook staff and was president of Tri-Hi-Y and a National Honor Society member. Donna was so appreciative of being chosen as the Glen Rogers High School Varsity Queen in 1967.
She was a proud member of the Glen Rogers Hall of Fame. Donna was a graduate of Marshall University where she obtained a master’s degree. Her first teaching position was at Mullens High School where she was the Future Business Leader of America sponsor. The FBLA traveled to many states where they competed for many honors. Her second teaching position was at Pineville High School where she enjoyed it very much. Her last teaching assignment was at Berlin McKinney Grade School as a Title I instructor. She loved teaching and was adored by her students. Donna was a member of Toneda Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the choir director for years. She also was the music director for many VBS events and she served on several boards and committees.
Some of her time was devoted to the Auxiliary of The Gideon’s International where she held several positions in Wyoming County and the state of West Virginia. Donna sang in some local gospel groups but she was most proud of her family group The Eric Lusk Singers. They recorded three CD’s at JLS Sound Trax with music being provided by the Joe and Sharon Stewart Family. The Eric Lusk Singers enjoyed traveling and singing with the Stewart Family on many different occasions. Donna was one of the finest alto singers you would ever want to hear. We always said her grandfather music teacher, Jimmy Harold, would have been proud of her. Proverbs 31: 10-12 is an indication of who Donna Rae Harold Lusk is. “WHO CAN FIND A VIRTUOUS WOMAN”?
Donna is survived by her husband Andrew Fairley Lusk who found his virtuous wife and married her on June 12, 1971, the love of his life. A son, Eric Scott Lusk, preceded Donna in death on April 16, 2021. What a grand reunion on heaven’s bright shore that must have been at 6:01 AM, Thursday, August 5, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 10th at Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, Oceana, WV with Pastor Scottie Lusk officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV.
