MULLENS, W.Va. – The City of Mullens has been taken over by the 2021 Dogwood Festival this week.
Carnival attractions from Gambill Amusement Carnival opened Wednesday and town officials reported a great start with more days of fun to come.
This evening, May 6th, 2021, the Festival will officially kick off at 6 p.m., featuring statements from Mullens City officials and a Presentation of Colors from American Legion Post 106 Color Guard. Afterwards, 92.7 THE MIX will present the Mullens Idol competition, showcasing local talent.
On Friday, May 7th, stop by at 3 p.m. for the Dogwood Memorial Tree Planting. The carnival will open at 6 p.m. that evening while Derek and Candice Sesco take the Main Stage. The Stewart Family is scheduled to play at 7:30 followed by Caleb Clark at 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 8th, enjoy Sweets and Eats Contest at the Veterans Memorial Building and the Kids Cake Championship there as well at 10 a.m. Next, the Sarge McGhee Sidewalk Chalk Contest will be held at 11 a.m. The carnival will open at 12 p.m. alongside the Kidz Bicycle Race. Stop by 2nd Street Station for Button & Susie’s Spaghetti Eating at 2 p.m. or catch Allen Smith at the Main Stage. Ivan & The Outlaws will take the Main Stage at 3 p.m. while the Rubber Ducky Race is held. Dave Runion will play at 6 p.m. followed by the Davisson Brothers Band at 8 p.m. Immediately following their performance, a fireworks display will close Saturday night’s activities.
On Sunday, May 9th, Bossy Bingo will be played at the Mullens Athletic Field at 4 p.m.
