DAVID PRINCE


David Prince, 84, of Herndon went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his home.
Born July 5, 1936 at Spanishburg, he was the son of the late Rev. John Mose Prince and Bessie Jane (Kinzer) Prince.
David was a retired coal miner with more than 30 years of experience. He was a member of the UMWA and known as Chief to his coworkers.
David was a loving husband, daddy, papaw and great grandpa. He was a hardworker, loved being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends talking about the good ole days. One of his favorite things to do was coon hunting with his grandsons and Norwegian Elkhounds. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Nicholson, Rosie Epperly, Goldie Grubb and Edna Wood.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Louise; one son, Grant Prince and his wife, Rhonda; one daughter, Tammy Griffith and her husband, Joey; three grandsons, Curtis Griffith and his wife, Lora, Anthony Prince and his wife, Melissa, and Nicholas Prince and his wife, Savannah; seven great grandchildren, Noah, Haileigh, Eli, Connor, and Aubree Prince, Easton and Bryce Griffith; one sister, Lucy Thompson of Illinois; and a host of friends and neighbors.
Graveside service and burial will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Prince Family Cemetery, Peak Ridge with Rev. Danny Lusk officiating.
Friends may call from 12:30 until time of service Saturday at the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Those wishing to attend the services, CDC guidelines will be followed, social distancing is required, and masks are mandatory.
