Donald Dean Bailey, Sr., 96, of Sabine, WV on March 10, 2021 peacefully at his home left his earthly body to receive his Heavenly body and reward and now is with his Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife Bessie Mae Woodard Bailey with 55 years of marriage. He was born on August 4, 1924 in Glen Fork, WV a son of the late Terry Ross and Alice Brown Bailey. He is a graduate of Milam High School, but before he could receive his diploma he was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country in WWII. He served as a glider man and was in the 17th Airborne Division. He received a purple heart at the Battle of the Buldge. He worked at Kopperston #2 mines for 38 years as a belt foreman. Donald was a devout Christian and a member of the Church of God. A Godly man who loved Jesus with everything in him, a family man that loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All who knew him could see the love of Jesus shining thru him.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three sisters Marion Bailey Tilley, Mavis Bailey Snuffer, and Marie Bailey Murelli; and two brothers Leon Bailey, and Terry Bailey.
Left to cherish his memory are a son Donald Dean (Betty) Bailey, Jr. of Sabine; two daughters Ellen Gail (Richard) Acord of Ravencliff, and Tammy Bailey of Sabine; five grandchildren Philip Bailey, Jeremy (Crystal) Tilley all of Sabine, Anitra (Jeff) Barlow of Jesse, Mickey Tilley, and Tanya (Jamie) Smith all of Sabine; seven great grandchildren Marissa Barlow (Ryan) Adams, of Pineville, Jeremy Dean (Makaela) Tilley, Ethan Tilley all of Ravencliff, Savannah (Austin) Gibson of Seymour, TN, Caleb Bailey and Moriah Smith both of Sabine, Alex Barlow of Oceana, Lakin Barlow of Bradshaw, and Courtney Trent of Beckley; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Due to COVID 19 a private service will be held on Tuesday March 16th at Pine Gove Cemetery, Ravencliff, WV with Reverends Tanya and Jamie Smith officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Philip Bailey, Austin Gibson, Jeremy Tilley, Jeremy D. Tilley, Mickey Tilley, Ethan Tilley, and Ryan Adams.
