Hazel Marie Graham Blankenship, 85, of Kopperston, WV went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV following a short illness. She was born on September 7, 1935 in Oceana, WV a daughter of the late Wayne and Tressie Fortner Graham. She had a very active life, working as an EMT and clerk for Banner Coal and Land for many years, a head start teacher, school bus driver and Post Master at Kopperston Post Office. She was an active member of The Well Family Worship Center and also attended Apostolic Faith Tabernacle. She was a mother figure to many who knew her. Her hobbies included going to church, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years Edwin Blankenship; sons Franklin, Clifford, David, and Michael; infant daughter Deborah Blankenship; son-in-law Andrew Lester; infant great grandson Franklin Disel Dunford; brothers Franklin and Steve Graham; sisters Maxine Varney, Jenny Holcomb, Carol Hunter and Pamela Stacy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons Leroy (Sarah) Blankenship of Clear Fork and Danny Blankenship of the home; a daughter Edwinna Lester of Hanover; two grandsons Clifford and Dennis Blankenship; three granddaughters Andrea (Tony) Browning, Kelly (Jason) Lester and Kayla Dunford; a step granddaughter Tabby Johnson; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday January 7th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Jeff Greene officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
