Winford Cledith Workman, 93, of Matheny, WV went home to be with his Great God Jehovah on October 18, 2020 at Bower’s Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on February 19, 1927 in Wyoming County, WV a son of the late George Floyd and Susie Jane Mullens Workman. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the UMWA and Matheny United Methodist Church. He loved God, country, and family. He enjoyed spending time in Oceana putting a smile on people’s faces with his charm and jokes.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Thelma Mae Linkous Workman and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Louise Francis of Matheny; three grandchildren Frankie (Gretta) Francis, Dina (Mike) Duncan, and Mark Stewart; five great grandchildren Brandon Francis, Brandi (Matthew) Paynter, Steven (Hannah) Duncan, Dylan Francis, and Brittany Duncan; four great great grandchildren Alydia Duncan, Abel Paynter, Aliyah Duncan, and Gabriel Paynter; a best friend Cora Stewart; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday October 23rd at the Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV with Rev. Jonathan Cresong officiating. Entombment will be in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard.
