Town of Oceana Not Issuing Parade Permits Due to COVID-19

OCEANA, W.Va. – Citing the Governor’s restriction of public gatherings to crowds of 25 or less, the Town of Oceana announced yesterday that parade permits would not be issued for the Westside Homecoming and Veterans’ Day Parades.

“It is with the deepest regret the Town of Oceana will be unable to issue parade permits for the Westside Homecoming Parade and Veterans Day Parade at this time as per the Governor’s guideline restricting event gatherings to 25 or less,” said Town officials in a social media release. “And these parades draw way more then 25.”

“Like you, we look forward to the these parades every year, but we have to think of the safety of our residents, we must follow state guidelines, and we have to keep the county map green so schools can stay open,” the release continued. “We wish the Westside Renegades all the best and are looking forward to seeing what you come up with next year during Homecoming. And we thank our Veterans for their service and even though we are unable to have a parade, you will be in our thoughts.”
