Violet was a 90 year resident of West Virginia, born March 3, 1927, she peacefully passed away on August 11, 2020. Her parents were Mr. & Mrs. Lacy and Zula (Holcomb) Bailey. She was born in Davy, WV, and graduated from Baileysville High School in 1945.  

Violet married Melvin A. Stone on April 30th, 1948, and they resided in Baileysville until he passed away on January 23rd, 1967. 

She then married John “Alvin” Goddard on September 12th, 2000, Alvin passed away peacefully in their Beckley home on August 19th, 2010. 

She was preceded in death by Mr. Lacy Bailey her Father, Zula (Holcomb) Bailey her Mother, Curtis Bailey her Brother, Junior Bailey her Brother, Emmett Bailey her Brother, and Stella (Bailey) Lester her Sister. 

Violet is survived by Ms. Judith (Stone) Presley, Daughter, SC. Ms. Melissa(King) McGuire, Granddaughter, CO. Mr. & Mrs. Andrew and Carla (Workman) Peavy, Granddaughter, SC. Mr. & Mrs. John and Debra Goddard, Stepson and wife, FL. Mr. & Mrs. John “Chip” and Christy Goddard Step grandchild and wife, WV. Mr & Mrs. David and Aimee Goddard, step-grandchild and wife, WV. As well as 16 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild. 

She is also survived by Mrs. Clayton and (Betty) Shriver, Sister, MI. Mrs. Donald and (Beatrice) Shields, Sister, IN. Mrs. Michael and (Retha) Shannon Sister, FL. Mrs. Nicolas and (Norma) Butzky Sister, IL. Mr. & Mrs. Leland and (Pat) Bailey, Brother, IN, and 15 Nephews & Nieces.
