PINEVILLE, WV – Students returning to Wyoming County Schools for the fall term will be on a flexible schedule mixing classic in-school instruction and working from home once a week to allow adequate cleaning time across the school system.
On June 29, 2020, the Wyoming County Board of Education, at their regularly scheduled meeting, approved the framework described below for the return to school for the fall of 2020.
Please note the Board accepted the recommendation of the Superintendent and the Re-entry Task Force. The Re entry Task Force is comprised of 114 Wyoming County Schools stakeholders (parents, educators, nurses, counselors, and service personnel). The Re-entry Task Force met via ZOOM for 2.5 hours on June 22, and came to a consensus regarding this framework, which was recommended to and approved by the Board of Education.
Additionally, this framework will be in place for a period of 2 months, until October 22. At that time, WCS WILL evaluate the entire situation and data available to determine how to proceed beyond October 22.

“This is only a framework for scheduling. There are many, many details and protocols to work out and plan,” said Superintendent Deirdre Cline in a letter to Wyoming County Schools stakeholders. “All planning will be done, as has occurred so far, with the Wyoming County Health Department, the WV Department of Education guidance, and the oversight of the Wyoming County Schools Re-entry Task Force.”
The new start date for students will be August 24, 2020. Employees return August 17, 2020.
“There is much work to be done to be ready for a positive, safe, and happy learning environment of the students we serve. As details are planned, further announcements will be made. Communication is absolutely vital between the school system, families, and everyone involved in the well-being and education of our children. Our goal has always been for our children to be safe and happy while they are learning! That goal will drive our decisions and our collective purpose as we move forward toward what will be a fantastic year for the children and families of Wyoming County Schools. Blessings to you,” said Cline.
