The former Pennsboro High School is located in Ritchie County and the athletic teams were known as the Cardinals.
Pennsboro consolidated with Harrisville in 1986 to form Ritchie County High School.
Kenny Wright was the last head football coach at Pennsboro and was the first grid head coach at Ritchie County. A longtime friend, Kenny writes a weekly sports column for the local newspaper there and recently penned a story about the basketball Blue Demons from Northfork and their accomplishments in the 1970s and 1980s.
