Frances Louise Johnston Thomas, 88, of Brier Creek, WV departed this world surrounded by her loving family to enter her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Born October 19, 1931 in Roderfield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Onnie Dee and Thelma Mae Jones Johnston. Frances was an amazing wife, Mom, Mamaw and Granny. Her love for her family was incomparable. She was well known for her wonderful home cooked meals and she always put everyone before herself. Her life was spent taking care of her family, home, and friends. Frances was a long time member of the Brier Creek Tabernacle.
In addition to her parents, Frances is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 60 years William Jay “Pete” Thomas; three brothers Franklin, Stephen and Ralph; and two sisters, Kitty Jean and Eleanor.
Those that are left to cherish her memories include her four children Diana Newcomb and husband Gary of Lynco, Richard Thomas and wife Chrystal of Brier Creek, Anita Thomas of Brier Creek and Russell Thomas and wife Rhonda of Oceana; seven grandchildren Brittany Lawson and husband Daniel, Rebecca Brumfield and husband Derek, Savannah Allen and husband Cody, Kurtis Thomas and wife Miranda, Samantha Smith, Bethany Adkins and husband James, and Katie Grimmette and husband Justin; nine great-grandchildren Matthew, Taylor, Ellie, Levi, Colt, Lilly, Maverick, Remi and Jayselynn; two sisters Rosemary (Mark) Andrews and Eva (Michael) Hamilton and one brother Kenneth (Jill) Johnston; and a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Brier Creek Tabernacle, Brier Creek, WV with Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Friends may gather at the church Sunday evening, May 31, 2020. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Cemetery in Brier Creek, WV. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
