Clarence Ray West, 44, of Coal City, WV entered eternal rest on Friday May 22, 2020. He was born on July 28, 1975 in Man, WV a son of Clarence Harper of Long Branch and the late Rachel Daugherty. Ray was a kind and simple man, with a loving and giving heart, he touched the hearts and lives of many with his loving kindness. Ray loved his family and was always there for them. His favorite thing to do, was to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers and working on them, and working on his vehicles. He was always ready to welcome someone in and to lend a helping hand to others. He brought joy and laughter to all and could fit into any crowd. Ray was loved by a host of family and friends and he loved them. Some that he had a special place in his heart was his nephews and nieces Jody “Shorty” Thomas, James “Chub” Davis, Edie West, Brian Thomas, Clarence “Mut” Browning, Machelle Kenneda, Randell “Rat” Kenneda, Travis Thomas, Cody Davis, Tyler “Punk” West, Kaya Davis and Kendra “Mag” Lawrence.
In addition to his loving mother Rachel he is preceded in death by grandparents James and Edie Daugherty and McKinley and Nancy Harper; a brother to him, Jody Thomas; and also dear to his heart, Herman and Beth West.
Survivors include his father Clarence and a stepmother Ophelia Harper of Long Branch; two brothers Leroy West of Coal City, whom Ray shared a home with and Frankie and Amy West of Cove Creek; two sisters Jinnie Thomas of Sophia and Teresa Browning of Hanover; those that he considered his brother and sisters Jarrod West of Ghent, Mary Sisk of Sophia and Cassie Cline of Long Branch; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 29th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor William “Bill” Spencer officiating. He will be laid to rest in Kenneda Family Cemetery, Long Branch, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
