Helen Juanita Lester Thompson, 75, of Pineville, went to be with our Heavenly Father Monday, May 11, 2020 at McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 17, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Elva Altizer.
She married William (Buddy) Lester on May 21, 1962 and had six children. He lost his battle with cancer on January 23, 1991.
On February 13, 2002, she married Norman Wayne Thompson who passed away on March 30, 2018.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Linda Altizer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Helen Gnatt and her husband, Jimmy of Charleston, Darrell Lester and his wife, Madeline of Pineville, Vallery Tilley and her husband, Bill of Cabin Creek, Rebecca Harvey and her husband, Steve of Rustburg, VA, Angel Lester of Jacksonville, NC and Kimberly Hawkins and her husband, Keith of Charleston; four brothers, Charlie Altizer of Cana, VA, Fraser Altizer of Newton, NC, George and his wife, Sissy of Jesse and Roger Altizer of Pineville; two sisters, Linda Altizer and her husband, Cecil of Pineville and Louise Carothers and her husband, Tommy of Pineville; eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Ashley and her husband, Doug and their two children, Liam and Ireland, Amber and her husband, Shon and their son, Jayden, Jennifer and her three children, Amy, Nevaeh and Brianna, Melinda and her husband Hank, Andrew, Tiffany, Austin, Kayla, Jonathan, Bill Jr, Joshua T, Steve Jr, Joshua H, Brittany, Alisha, Danny, Christopher and Zyler.
The family would like to thank McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the love, support and wonderful care that was provided to their mother.
