Shooting Outside of Pet Supplies Plus in Beckley

BECKLEY, WV – On May 6, 2020 at 6:36 p.m. officers were dispatched to a shooting that had just occurred on the parking lot of Pet Supplies Plus in the Cranberry Creek Shopping Center in Beckley.

Officers arrived on-scene and discovered a thirty-nine-year-old black male victim with a single gunshot wound.

Witnesses described observing a white Ford passenger car speeding away from the scene just after hearing a gunshot.

The male, later identified as Troy Lee Williams of Summers County, WV, was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Detectives from the Beckley Police Department along with Detectives from the Charleston Police Department Special Enforcement Unit arrested twenty-four-year-old Latoya Monique Carter of Charleston at her apartment complex in Charleston, WV just after 1:00 a.m.

Carter has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to 1st Degree Murder. Carter was transported to the South Central Regional Jail pending arraignment. The suspect vehicle has been recovered.

The investigation is still on-going. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
