Howard Louis Pates, 54, of New Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his residence.

Born January 28, 1966 at Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Howard Melvin and Viontha Imogene Pates.

Howard was a Meat Cutter at the Beckley Food Lion for over eight years. He loved sports especially Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns and was a coach for the Mullens Little League Football.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kellie Pates; his children, Asia Pates, Laura Grant, Kristian Osborne, Quintel Jackson, Lamar Jackson, Javar Pates and his companion, Melissa Justice, and Jeremy Osborne; two sisters, Amelia and Velina Pates; five grandchildren, Aaliyah Pates, Cameron Pates, Nina Pates, Chloe Pates, Noah Allen, and one due in September; and one great grandson, Nathan Pates.

In accordance and recommendations from the CDC and in keeping with Howard’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
