ANNA RUTH LANE

Anna Ruth Lane, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2020 with family by her side after a long illness.

Born May 28, 1932 in Pineville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Maggie (Cook) Workman.   She spent her childhood in Skin Fork until she met and married the love of her life and husband for 63 years, Silas Lane.   Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and was the happiest with them by her side.   Her legacy of love will live on now through them.

Most of all, Ruth loved the Lord.   She was an active member of the New Zion Old Regular Baptist Church for more than 60 years.   Attending church services, Association meetings, and being with her church family were some of her favorite things to do.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Silas; her sisters Eileen Garrison, Billie Hannan, Ruby Lyons, and Sandra O’Neal; her brother Douglas Workman; and her son-in-law Jim Sizemore.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Danny Lane (Frances) of Bud, WV, Karen Cashwell (Jim) of Charlotte, NC, Cathy, Jones (Doug) of Raleigh, NC, and Teresa Lane of Bud, WV; her grandchildren Mark (Jan) Sizemore of Fort Mill, SC, Amy (Thad) of Fort Mill, SC, Stephen Sizemore (Melinda) of Fort Mill, SC, Ethan Cashwell of Central, SC, Ray Lane of Bud, WV, Susanne Godsey (Junior) of Alpoca, WV, Anna Colbird (Darold) of Bud, WV, Jonathon (Caren) of Thomasville, NC, Joseph Ashley of Raleigh, NC, Jackson Ashley of Raleigh, NC, Dust’n Jones of Raleigh, NC; and a grand circle of beloved great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her loving brothers Jim (Opal) Workman and Cameron (Ursula) Workman, and sisters Margaret Jones, Mary (Carlos) O’Neal, and Debby (Sam) Steele.

The family would like to thank Palliative Care and Hospice of Southern West Virginia for the compassionate and tender care provided.   We especially want to thank Sandy, Mary, Cassie, and Amy for the love and kindness shown.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a traditional funeral will not be possible, but the family will be comforted by your prayers.   A private family service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
