The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and Gov. Joe Manchin's REAP Program are hosting a tire collection event to rid Wyoming County of old tires.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may bring old tires for disposal to the old Dept. of Highways garage at Rockview.

People with valid West Virginia identification indicating they are residents of Wyoming County may dispose of up to 10 tires per person. Only car and light truck tires that are 16 inches or less, and have been removed from the rims, will be accepted.

Haulers and businesses are not allowed to participate.

The event is made possible, in part, through the REAP—The Next Generation initiative within DEP"S Division of Land Restoration.

REAP brings together all of the state's cleanup programs to maximize cleanup efforts.

Local partners for this event are the Wyoming County Commission and the Wyoming County Solid Waste Authority.
