No. 1 Westside hosts No.3 Nicholas County in girls basketball action tonight.

The Lady Renegades handed the Grizzlies their only loss, 41-30, in December at Summersville. That was Westside’s closest game of the year until they beat Scott, 53-45, on Wednesday night.

All-state center Hope Lester, who averages 17 points and 13 rebounds per game, is the anchor for WHS.

Westside coach Jamie Lusk expects a tough game.

“They have a couple of big girls up front,” he commented. “We look forward to the challenge. That’s why play these teams, to find out what we’re made of. This will make us better.”

The Grizzlies dropped to AA this year after decades of being one of the state’s smallest AAA schools.

Nicholas is led by Shaelyn Fletcher.

“They’ll come here ready to play, and need to be ready too,” Lusk stated.

Game time is 7 p.m.
