Westside’s Lady Renegades are ranked No. 1 in the first Associated Press poll released this week.
The Lady Renegades received nine of the possible 10 first place votes.
Bridgeport is second and got the other first place vote. Clay County, Summers County and Nicholas County round out the top five.
Westside is 8-0 and plays Shady Spring and Wyoming East this week.
Greenbrier East is tops in AAA, and Huntington St. Joseph is No. 1 in Class A.
In the boys basketball poll, Wyoming East (6-1) is No. 5 in Class AA.
Unbeaten Scott is ranked No. 1, and Bluefield follows. The two teams each got five first place votes.
Robert C. Byrd is third, and Poca is No. 4.
Westside received votes for the top 10.
