MULLENS — Maude Marklin Hypes Canterbury, 92, of Mullens passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at her residence following a short illness. Born March 20, 1920, at Mullens, she was the daughter of the late Buford E. Hypes, Sr., and Annie Evelyn Hypes. Services was held noon Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, with Rev. Gilbert Dodson officiating. BASIN — Frances Lynn Criss, 64, of Basin, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 3, 2012 in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born June 11, 1948 at Mullens, she was the daughter of the late James Shumate and Gladdis Reed. Services was held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Okey Slate officiating.
