Top seeds Wyoming East and Westside coasted to lopsided wins to advance to this Friday’s championship game in Beckley.
Class AA No. 4 East had first half runs of 11-0 and 19-0 on the way to an 89-53 conquest of Summers County.
The Warriors (17-4) scored the first 11 points of the night.
At 25-13, they reeled off 19 unanswered points, a spurt which included three-pointers by Austin Canada and Christian Hedinger.
East led by more than 40 on a few occasions in the second half.
Canada and Jordan Hayes tallied 17 each. Taron Ayers had 13.
AA No. 6 Westside led from wire to wire in beating Liberty, 92-75, for the third time this season.
Corey Bowles made a lay up and a trey as the Renegades took an early 7-3 edge. At 11-9, they had a 12-4 run capped by a Will Fox three-pointer.
Westside (16-7) outscored the Raiders 16-3 to start the second period and went up by 39-18. It was 46-25 at the break.
Corey Bowles had 27 to spark WHS. Fox scored 23, and Justin Cogar had 18.
East and Westside will meet for the fourth time on Friday. Both teams have clinched spots in the regionals by reaching the sectional final.
Game notes: East has beaten Summers County 32 times in a row … Westside won the three meetings with Liberty by 17 points or more.
