The Methodist Childcare Center housed in the United Methodist Church in Mullens, West Virginia has hired a new director.
Trina Carte of Mullens is the new director and oversees the center and its employees. Rosella Norman, Gladys Jarrell, and Teresa Miller are the childcare providers at the center.
All the employees are trained in childcare and meet the necessary requirements.
The new director, Trina Carte, says, “It is a dream-come-true for me. I have always wanted to be a childcare center director. The center has openings for children ages two to twelve. The daily fee of $20 per child includes breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.”
The center provides indoor and outdoor activity. Indoor activities include free choice activities in a variety of learning centers, art, books, stories, conversation, role play, quiet time, family style meals and snack, and creative movement. Outdoor activities include large muscle activity, climbing, riding toys, sand and water table, and socialization activities.
The Methodist Childcare Center has been open since June 9, 2002.
“We have seen many changes in the need for daycare services during the past twelve years,” says board president, Donna Wikel. “As unemployment in our area heightens, our enrollment goes down. Labor, utilities, food costs, and taxes still must be paid, so we are seeking new funding opportunities. We are asking churches, businesses, parents, and local citizens to help provide funding to keep the doors of the center open.”
Mrs. Carte has held several fundraising events and will continue to have these projects frequently. The next fundraiser will be a booth at the Rebel Palooza Concert on July 12 at the Mullens Football Field.
The Methodist Childcare Center is a non-profit outreach ministry and donations are tax deductible The address of the center is 110 Guyandotte Avenue, Mullens, WV 25882 and the phone is 304-294-7500.
