Hawk sentenced to 5 years for credit card fraud

A Tennessee man turned himself over to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department on Monday in regards to a felony charge. Kenneth R. Haynes Jr., 32, of Harrogate, was charged with first-degree sodomy. The alleged victim was under the age of 12.


According to the arrest warrant, Haynes engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a 3-year-old at some point between Feb. 1, 2008 and Aug. 31, 2008. Deputy Mike Cooper filed the complaint.


Haynes bail was set at $250,000, which he posted on the day he turned himself in. The case was waived to the grand jury. He must stay away from the victim in the case while he is out on bail.


In other news, Summer L. Hawk, 22, of Middlesboro entered a guilty plea in Bell Circuit Court on Monday. She was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary for fraudulent use of a credit card under $10,000. She must also pay restitution in the amount of $1,987.65.
