Update: Who’s running for office

The filing period for candidates in this year’s primary election ended on Saturday at midnight.
Board of Education has attracted the largest field with seven candidates.
Here is a list of those who have filed.
Nick Joe Rahall (D), who represents the Third District in the House of Representatives is being challenged by Richard Ojeda, II, in the primary. Evan Jenkins is unopposed for the Republican nomination.
In the 9th District of the State Senate, which includes Raleigh, Wyoming and parts of McDowell counties, incumbent Democrat Mike Green faces Michael M. Kostenko in the primary. Republican Jeff Mullins, a Wyoming County native, is unopposed on the Republican side.
Democrat Linda Goode Phillips is seeking another term in the House of Delegates in the 25th District.
Sue Cline of Brenton is seeking the Republican nomination. Republican Lynne Arvon is running for a second term in the 31st District, which includes the Oceana area. Clyde D. McKnight, whom she narrowly defeated two years ago, is running again on the Democratic ticket.
County commission: Jason Mullins, David Cox.
Prosecuting attorney: Michael Cochrane, David G. Thompson, Pamela “Pam” Lambert.
Wyoming County Board of Education: Perry E. Cook, Mike Davis, Betty Jenkins England, Tommy Knotts, Arnold Harless, Doug Lester, Allan R. Stiltner.
