High school football practice got under way this week, and 40 showed up at Wyoming East.

The Warriors are coming off back-to-back appearances in the Class AA playoffs.

East went 7-3 two years ago and fell at Scott in the opening round of the post-season.

The Warriors were 9-1 last year, with the only loss coming in a nail-biter at Summers County.

East hosted a playoff game at New Richmond for the first time ever but lost to Nicholas County.

WEHS visits Greenbrier West on Aug. 16 for a scrimmage. West was the Class A state runner-up last season.

The Warriors will host a grid-o-rama on Aug. 22 starting at 6 p.m.

Mingo Central visits East on Aug. 29 in the regular season opener.

The Warriors travel to Westside on Sept. 5 for the annual Battle for the Coal Shovel.
