Members of the New Tazewell Police Department executed a search of a residence off of Old Jacksboro Road last Thursday, leading to the arrest of five people.

“We have received complaints from people in the area that suspicious activity has been going on at the residence,” said Officer Brent Clark, who lead the investigation.

Officers recovered items during the search, held around 11:30 a.m., that are used in making methamphetamine, as well as a loaded .38 special revolver, he said.

Five people were arrested, Clark said.

Lazaro Concepcion was charged with initiating methamphetamine manufacture in a drug-free zone, possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

Charlene Taylor, Ashley Thomas, Karla Cook and Adam Vanover were all charged with initiating methamphetamine manufacture in a drug-free zone.

Their court dates were set for June 19.

“This was a big hit for the drug community,” said New Tazewell Police Chief Ben Evans. “We will continue to prosecute anyone selling drugs in our community.”

Clark added that officers from the Tazewell Police Department and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the search.

If you have a tip about possible drug activity in your area, you are urged to contact the police. All calls will be kept confidential.
